Do not sign up with a security company that uses alarm.com as their website portal. They say they can automate all of your devices in your smart home in one website or mobile app. That may be true, but now everytime you want to add a new device, even something as simple as a light bulb, you can not install it yourself. You must call the dealer who sold you the system to come into your house to pair that light bulb with the network. You are at their mercy for scheduling and of course they charge you a fee to install it. It wan't always this way and it wasn't this way when I first boiught the system. You used to be able to add a smart lock, light bulb, garage door opener, or thermostat yourself. Pretty simple stuff really and now you have to buy their products at an inflated price and pay ridiculous installation fees and wait around all day for the technician to get to your house on their schedule. Buy a HUB by SimpleThings to automate your home. Stay away from alarm.com
