If you are concidering becoming a student of ATP and are going to use their housing Concider this first. When you become a student at ATP and use their housing you will be put in an apartment, usually a two bedroom, with another student in your room with you. This is not a real big problem as college students are housed in this manner. The problem is you will be flying out of town alot on your cross country flights and ATP will allow other students to stay at your apartment when your not there and those students will be allowed to used your bed, your sheets and pillow if you left them on your bed or in your room, your toiletries if you left any behind, the food you left in the fridge, your laundry detergent, not to mention riffle through your stuff because no one will be there to stop them. It is impossible to take all of these things with you when you go flying so most of it if not all you will have to leave there. I had the luck to get some roommates that felt the same way as me when I moved in. Someone had changed the handle on the door to a handle that locked with keys. I was given a key when I moved in and then they finished and gave the exra keys to me. I got a new roommate and gave him the key before he even tried to go over to the apartment. I got a call from the school and they told me I would have to take the lock off. I told them about the possesions in there and how I had caught cross country students in my stuff and my bed already. I told them about the $2000 they make us keep on hand being in there. He told me to get a bank account, even though we are supposed to have it in cash on hand, put my possesions in my car when I leave, that way someone can break in my car when I'm not around, and that there was nothing they could do about the other students "hotracking" in my bed. The cost of the program is going up frequently twice since I started two months ago from what I have been told. The training is good but even their designated examiners and some of their instructors will tell you it could have been done cheaper and just as fast else where without all the headaches. ATP treats their student, whom range from 18-45 years of age, like Children. I myself am 30. I was in the military and lived life outside of flying for years about 12 to be exact. I have earned some respect and I always treat people with the respect I assume they deserve untill they prove me wrong. I do not intend to be degraded talked down to or any other form of rudeness unless I asked for it. This school will do this to every student that walks through their doors. Maybe not at first but once that last payment is in right before you start your cross country flights they will start the first chance they get. Explore your options before you start with this school. They are not the best, nor are they the only ones that can accomplish what they are trying to say they do. I would put my real name on this report but I do not want the school giving me more issues as I am still enrolled and coming near the end of my training.
