Air Around the Clock Air Conditioning, Air Around the Clock or ATC They claimed that the A/C needed a bogus repair that did not even need to be fixed. Coral Springs Florida, Broward County
I was a customer of Air Around The Clock for more than fifteen years and had bought three air conditioners, from them and many service calls. However, the last call that they did for me was unconscionable. The air conditioner that I had was around six years old, just over the warranty period, and did not have that much use on it. It was not cooling and I called them for a service call. After the technician came he diagnosed the problem as needing a new evaporator coil and I asked how could that be and the technician said that it was leaking and could not be reused. So I asked him to find out how much would it cost to get a new coil. And approximately the next day he told me that it was expensive but that it would take roughly six weeks or more to get it because his distributor did not have it and it had to be made as a special order by the manufacturer. In addition he said that they refuse to do the work. Consequently, I began looking on line for the part and I found a distributor that got it for me . The part was brand new and made by the same manufacturer and was the exact part for that unit. I got the part in two or three days for approximately $1340 dollars and I contacted a different contractor to install it and the other contractor charged approximately $2000. to install it.
But the situation gets worse, it doesn’t end here. When the other contractor removed the existing evaporator coil, they tested it and found that it was not leaking and there was nothing wrong with it. What they found was that it was the condenser coil instead and they told me that to replace the condenser coil it would cost almost $2000, including installation. And I told them that I could not afford to spend any more money on that unit. And this contractor told me that they would try to flush the condenser coil to see if the unit would cool, but that this was a temporary repair because sooner than later the unit would break again and that part would need to be replaced. So far the repair plus two or three service calls cost me around $4000 dollars. Air Around the Clock never explained to me what the real problem was and simply wanted me to do an expensive repair that did not even need to be done. I relied on their knowledge because I had been using them for many years thinking that they were a reputable company. In addition to this repair it could cost approximately another $2000 to fix and A/C unit that would cost approximately $5500 to replace brand new.
Afterward, I contacted Air Around the Clock and told them what happened and they told me they could not help me. Because of them, I will probably have to sell my apartment, because I cannot afford to spend almost $6000 and then in addition another $5500 or so to replace the unit in the near term. Air Around the clock is a rip off company. I relied on their knowledge and I feel that they robbed me blind. I will never use these people again. They were dishonest. People like this should not be in business and be allowed to take advantage of their customers. They deserve to lose their business.
