Complaint Review: Action Mobile Homes in Columbia TN - COLUMBIA Tennessee

My husband and I went to Action homes in Columbia to see about buying a double wide trailer...we also needed the money to put improvements on the land for the trailer...

At the same time a company had bought a judgement from eight year before on a repoed car and they were naturalizing it to enable them to garnish my wages for just about the rest of my life...(I'm 42)..My husband and I decided that I (just me) should declare bankruptcy on it....my husband informed the salesman and he advised us to keep quiet about it until the deal was finished..

When it was put together the payments were $669.00 for the next 30 years...having just gone and petitioned for a car I had a fresh memory of how quickly life can turn things around...I could not make that kind of commitment until I was 72...we decided not to go through with the deal...

We had been told that if we changed our minds, we would owe for the title search and the land appraisal...we would also be entitled to them since we paid for them...ok by me...

So I filed on the seventh of February and came to my senses canceling the deal on the 11th...I spoke to Jim Hall on the Monday following (0214) and in writing cancelled the deal...Jeff then called that afternoon to see when we could pickup our money...he told him he would meet with him later...well he sure did...

He showed Jeff a paper we had signed called a Form 100 on which they had filled in some blanks to say we had put down not 3000.00 but 3500.00 dollars in a non-refundable down payment...Jeff got angry and Bob Slaughter then said he would stick to the usual paperwork deal (he is the manager)...Then I talked to him on the phone and he told me the same thing...he started with 3500.00...then I said I would sue first and he said go ahead...we have lawyers on retainer...then he agreed to the original terms

Then the stalling began...at first it was a couple of days...then we gave him two weeks to get the paperwork and numbers...it was stall...stall...stall..The last thing that he pulled was on Monday 0320 Jeff talked to him and he swore he would have it by Friday 0324.... On Friday he said he promised he would have it ready to look at Monday if he had to get the paperwork himselfNo word Mondaycalled and he was busyOn Tuesday Jeff went into the officehe had taken this week as vacation!!!!!!

This company has shown deceptive intentions from the point of first telling the salesman of my decision to file bankruptcyJim Hall told me to lie to the others about itand filled in the paperwork with false figuresI believe Bob Slaughter just intends to stall us until we give up any hope of getting our money backas of this point he has held our deposit for six weeks with no honest end in sight (everything he said he has backed out on)I talked to two lawyers in town and each told me he has them on retainerfor all I know he has them all on retainer to keep people from using a local lawyer against him(though I dont know that this is true, I havent called them all)

In my opinion he should give us our full down payment of 3000.00 plus the title search and appraisal paperworkTo show that his intentions were honest from the beginningI am tired of "buyer beware" I believe that salespersons are people too...And that they should have some honesty in what they do...

An end to the story...My husband got home on Monday 0403 and called Bob Slaughter....I have check for you he said...Dated for today...Just two days after I filed the report...Makes you wonder doesn't it....

Though we did not get all our money back and none of the paperwork, it is good to know that finally something got done...I am really glad there is a place like the (BADBUSINESSBEREAU.COM)
