Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

In April 2013 I signed up to use ABCMouse. ABCMouse offered a 30 day free trial during sign-up. When I enrolled into ABCMouse I was given an opportunity to pay for 1 year membership at the time. I agreed and paid the 1 year membership when signing up for the 30 day free trial.

The website is legitimate and it does function as described. My children instantly celebrated and were very excited that they were able to use ABCMouse. After several days I realized the excitement had faded. The site is very busy and I realized though my children liked the website, I determined that it was going to also require parental engagement. The engagement I realized was far more than expected.

The service is fantastic for self-learning with parental assistance. For teachers, homeschool parents, or parents that have  a substantial amount of time to engage solely with ABCMouse I believe subscribing could be an effective method to educate.

Within 10 days I decided to discontinue my service. I had difficulty locating the cancellation request. Once I cancelled I received an email notifying me that my service was cancelled. However the email I received did not mention ABCMouse refunding me my payment. It also stated that my service was active and would be good for the 1year subscription.

It is extremely difficult to reach a live-person with ABCMouse. They do not openly provide a customer service number. Everythign is conducted via email. I did locate a phone number by performing web searches. ABCMouse has never replied to my email sent via their website. I have sent several emails with no response. Everytime I call the number I receive a voice message letting me know they are unavailable. I have left voice messages and received no response.

I contacted my credit card company and requested a refund by filing a dispute. ABCMouse's website looks great but don't fall victim to poor customer service with no responses. When web searching I ready many similiar situations that precisely match my claim with this company.

BEWARE of this company and their service.

Sincerely disappointed in Virginia.

I agree with the original poster, and experienced a very similar situation. When subscribing for a year, I was charged the advertised price of $59.95, and an additional $7.95 for "signing up". And they refuse to issue a refund, yet canceled access to the account. It's bad business. They appear to be more about the money than educating children, as they claim on their commercials. Consumers need to be aware of this terrible business practice.
