I just got off the phone with what I assume to be the owner of A Drain Aid Anytime Router, Ltd.

Well, I didn't so much get off the phone as I was hung up on. After being cursed at, and told in no uncertain terms that he didn't give a sh*# about my problem with his service.

Here's the story: When we first moved into our house, we had a problem with the drain. We called A Drain Aid to have them root the pipes. They did, for a cool $314. We were told there was a single plug in the line, and that it would probably be fine for another year.

Today, Kirsten found water all over the floor again, while she was doing the laundry. Fortunately, it was just soapy water coming out of the floor, but it means that the water isn't draining into the sewer.

So Kirsten called A Drain Aid this morning to ask them to come and fix the problem, since they obviously didn't do it properly.

The guy there (refuses to give his name) immediately started attacking her, and told her that he didn't give a s**t about her problem, that they don't guarantee their work beyond 24 hours, he gets these calls once a month, and that he'd just got out of court where he was told he didn't have to pay.

I called him back shortly after to try and talk to him, and he was extremely belligerent, told me the same things, then hung up on me.

Kirten in the meantime has called the local Roto-rooter, who is going to come this afternoon to clear the drain and charge us HALF THE AMOUNT of what A Drain Aid charged us.

So take heed, and don't deal with A Drain Aid if you're in Edmonton and need your pipes rooted. I've lodged complaints with the BBB, and will be talking to the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce about what I can do, if anything.

Update: I just talked to Kirsten, who said that Roto Rooter was already there and fixing things; the guy said that they didn't root out far enough, and that's why there's a problem now. So, not only did they overcharge us, they did a half-assed job as well.

Further Update: It appears that the company already has several complaints against it with the BBB, and is under investigation for its business practices!
