Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I became involved with A-1 Leasing after Startup Essentials (another scam artist) contacted me about starting my own business.

I was told that A-1 Leasing would supply me with a laptop computer which would enable me to set up a web based business. Through the software on this computer, I would receive a Virtual Terminal License, I would be able to process credit cards through iPayment, Inc. which is allegedly registered with JPMorgan Chase Bank.

I was told that I also would receive a Search Engine to assist me in finding a product to sell, an online Shopping Cart and Resources and Tools to help me build my website, just to name a few of the many benefits I was told I would receive.

After several months of attempting to use the computer, (by the way they told me I would be up and running in 14 days) I could not access any of these services. Nothing, Zero, Zilch!!!!!!!!! I tried calling many times only to get a recording; I would leave messages but NO ONE had the decency to call me back.

After they deducted over $1,000 from my checking account, I closed my account and returned their computer. Now a collection agency is harrassing me for $10,400.

I have no internet business, as I was promised. I have NOTHING to show for the $1000 they took from me and now they want $10,400 more.

How can these people get away with taking advantage of individuals who just want to start their own business. How can they sleep at night!

I too am a victim of this shady operation.  I was reviewing my lease today and noted that they can automatically renew for one year beyond the end of the contract which is coming up in March of next year if I don't give them notice.  The problem I am having is I have tried to contact A-1 to end the agreement (pay out early so not to affect my credit) but the number is no longer in service.  Does anyone know how I can get in touch with them so I can send the "fine" piece of equipment they rented me back to them?

Jo I don't know if you received the notice of the class action lawsuit against A-1 Leasing, but you should have recieved a certified notification in the mail and you had until July 23rd to respond. I too was scammed by these companies, and like you I contacted by bank to stop all payments from A-1 Leasing, and now that account is closed. Now the collection agency for A-1 Leasing Stuart Allan & Associates have reported me to the credit bureaus as being delinquent in payments to the tune of $12,000. I responded to the tentative class action settlement in the form of an objection, I don't think that it is in the best interest of the class to settle for 3 months credit from A-1 Leasing, which would only amount to a few hundred dollars and still be responsible for the balance. Start-up Essentials has filed bankruptcy and A-1 Leasing is coming after us the consumer to pay for those leases. My opinion is that all the leases should be deemed null and void since Start-up Essentials is no longer in business and that A-1 Leasing should not receive one more dime from any of us. In the interim I have written to all 3 credit bureaus asking that the amount of $12,000 be removed from my credit report due to the pending classing action suit, and that if was not possible to remove this report from my credit, that I would like it to noted in my credit report that I have returned to the equipment and that I am disputing the charges due to the fraud that was perpertrated by Start-UP Essentials, not to mention that the ACER laptop in question from A-1 Leasing was a defective piece of junk that never worked properly from the start. I suggest that everyone who has been placed in collections do the same, Contact all three credit bureaus and have it noted in their report. SAM Irvington, NJ

My story is exactly the same. I was promised this wonderful laptop with all the softward needed to run credit cards and all the softward needed to run the business. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a CHEAP ACER (proabably paid a $50 per unit bulk rate out of China for it) and couldnt get it to run well enough to get email on a regular basis, let alone run a prosperous website business. It had no special software on it either. I paid them almost $1500 dollars before I got smart and shut down my bank account to shake the fleas off. Now they want $7500 more because I am in default. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO WAY.... NO HOW!!!!!!!! I SAY WE TAKE A STAND AGAINST THEM AND DO IT NOW. I AM PREPARING A VIDEO TO PUT UP ON YOU TUBE, TO PUT OUT A CALL TO ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN SCAMMED BY THESE PEOPLE OR OTHERS LIKE THEM. I hardly ever got anyone at Startup Essentials....... and when I did, I was told to continue on with the tutorials. Then in the middle of training, they switched their program around and told me I needed to start over. "Oh, No you didnt!!!" It has been a disaster. I have contacted the Dallas firm in charge of representing us as well, and suggest that everyone do the same. Time is of the essence here. Do not delay. And, Please look for my Video on You Tube and voice your opinion as well. I am also going to contact the Attorney General in Michigan and report A1 Leasing with that office. I suggest everyone follow suit. THESE PEOPLE CANNOT CONTINUE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE LIKE THIS!!! AFTER ALL...... THIS IS AMERICA ..... LAND OF THE FREE, NOT LAND OF THE SCAMMED!!!!!!!!!!!! Jo in Tennessee
