My BANK account was being accessed and charges taken after requesting that my membership be cancelled.  Because of my work hours I wasn't accessing services for a very long time.  Was wantintg to cancel.  But, my son returned home after four years in the Army, two tours of Iraq. He was wanting a place to work out and stay in shape.  I added him to my 24 hour fitness membership account.  He eventually stopped going as he didn't like the atmosphere or staff. 

I called in to cancel my membership.  Was told there would be no more CHARGES for either myself OR my son BUT, that I could not cancel him as a member.  They said he would not be allowed to access services unless he provided his own bank/payment information and that I would not be charged for either membership as of that date. I thought it was odd and explained to them several times that I added him to my membership and wanted to cancel both memberships, including his.  They still said I couldn't cancel him as a "member".  I thought this was very fishy, BUT, I received an email CONFIRMING ALL ACCOUNTS (including add-ons) had been CANCELLED.

My memebrship charges stopped. BUT, a couple of months later, I noticed they were still taking money out of my account for my son's add on membership.

Five months later I went to the local 24hr location.  The manager, Scott Mc, said he could cancel my sons account by the end of the day, said he would follow up with corporate office to refund money.  Seeing no further charges, I waited for the refund.  But, another five months has went by and I still hadn't heard anything. 

TODAY - I called him, he gave me the membership number and told me to call, explain everything and ask for the refund myself.  I called.  The female, named Sonya, was RUDE!  Laughed in my ear at times, cut me off several times, left me on hold for long periods of time and acted very unprofessional.  She told me that it was my repsonsibility to watch for any extra charges and alert them because they "have MILLIONS of customers".  If billing mistakes are being made on CANCELLED accounts.

The 24 Hour fitness rip-off policy ... it is your responsibile to alert them or they DON'T HAVE TO GIVE BACK YOUR MONEY and WON'T event if you have documentation showing they confirmed all memberships were cancelled.

ALERT! If 24 hr Fitness continues to steal money from your account, even after cancelling your membership, they will only refund a MAXIMUM of 2 months of charges. With "millions of customers" that is quite a SCAM !!
