10-minute bail bonds joe uzdavinis charge me 20% of bail bond Williston North Dakota
I am go to ND in february 2016 to post bond for my son.The bond is $25000. This bonder is charge me 20% of bail bond and I am giving him $15000 becose he say he is out of state and i must pay him $15000 And he say he gona give me back $9860 after my son show on court.But my son isnt show on court and thay find him in Nashville TN end escort him to ND jail.After that incident bail bonding compani is charge me for locate and arrest tim and all transport cost and give ma back only $4050.Please tell me how he can charge me 20% when everibody charge only 10% and how me must pay for locate and arrest tim and transport.I think I am RIPOFF for 400. Thay take last many from me and i like dissabled person still looking for help on this case. Thank you

Bail bonds are generally secured with a co-signer's signature to guarantee their appearance. In some cases, such as this one, when somebody is from out of state, they are required to place additional funds for collateral to be held until the case is closed. Part of the contract that a co-signer signs states that the collateral deposited can be used to locate the Defendant and return him to the court of original jurisdiction if he fails to appear. We asked you for a current address for the Defendant but you said that you did not know where he was.
Not only did he fail to appear on June 8, 2016, and knew he failed to appear, he concealed himself from his bondsman, did not update his contact information, and the bondsman had a deadline of July 8, 2016 to either produce the Defendant to the court or pay the forfeiture. He was located and returned to North Dakota with only days to spare before the deadline.
It is common practice, especially with a felony of this level, to hire bounty hunters (aka fugitive recovery agents) to locate the Defendant and return him to the courts in North Dakota. A detailed letter describing the out-of-pocket expenses of the bondsman was provided to you.
Prior to 8/1/2015, the fee was 10% for posting bail. The law changed on 8/1/2015 and North Dakota Century Code 26.1-26.6-08 states: "Maximum commission or fee - Mileage. A bail bond agent may not charge a premium, commission, or fee for a bond in an amount more than TWENTY percent of the amount of bail furnished by the bail bond agent, or one hundred fifty dollars, whichever is greater. In addition to the premium, commission, or fee charged under this section, a bail bond agent MAY CHARGE FOR MILEAGE reimbursement."
Although we are disappointed that you were not satisfied with our services, we did actually save you money in the long run. If we would not have picked up the Defendant, you would have been held legally responsible for the entire bond, not just the amount that was paid in recovery fees.
