1-800-Mattress Bait and Switch Ripoff Long Island New York
I ordered a mattress from the Stamford, CT 1-800-Mattress store on June 2, 2007. We scheduled delivery of the mattress for June 3, 2007 for a 1pm-5pm deliver slot. Upon arriving 1 hour late (6pm) they delivered our mattress through a third party. (Singh Transportation) The delivery men proceeded to scratch up all our walls and ceilings on the stairwell up to our bedroom. We moved into our brand new construction house back in January of 2007. When we moved in we spent close to $3000 to have all our walls painted. After they got the mattress to our bedroom, I asked the delivery men who I had to call about the scratches. They told me call 1-800Mattress customer service. When the men left I noticed an Orange sticker on the DO NOT REMOVE tag on the mattress, which said FLOOR SAMPLE. Huh, my wife and I never ordered a FLOOR SAMPLE.
I contacted customer service at 1-800Mattress. After hours of the run around, they told me the mattress was going to be a floor sample, but never made it to the showroom. I do not believe this because the salesman told me the mattress was discontinued. The customer service rep told me it was not discontinued. I can not get anyone to call me back. I leave messages for an Yvette Rodman and her supervisor Steve O'Neill. The on time I did get in contact with Steve he told me it is not their responsibility to fix the walls, it's the carrier's responsibility. He suggested I get an estimate from a painter to get the walls fixed. I did that a week ago and I am trying to get in touch with him to see if he got my fax. Every time I call Customer service they tell me I need to be more forceful to get in touch with him.
I spent $3000 for this mattress and not only do they ship me a Floor Sample, they scratched up 5 of my walls and will not take responsibility for it. My wife and I are at our wits end. We don't know what to do. Please help.
