Sure there is more to sites credibility, like the feedback from former customers, their popularity, and sometimes right away their appearances. What I was responding to was the first rebuttal which made the poster look totally foolish for even going to the internet for a purchase. I never said that a perfectly professional site is 100% credible, as I can easily get a professional site template in about a minute. I checked the site and unlike the person that first responded the site have listed several numbers to contact them, an online chat room, and an email form. This is something that the first responder never checked before letting his mouth off. The internet is no different then any other form of marketplace, be it mail offers to physical stores themselves. Look at the countless other complaints on this site against physical companies. It's always good to be a smart shopper and always decide for yourself if you really want something and weight the possibility of being scammed by that certain deal.

Frauds have some of the best looking web sites out there. You can't go by looks!

If you think a great looking site means that the company is for real, guess again. A fraud can spend a ton of money on site design. They got no product or service to spend money on. So, they got plenty left for lots of flash. As for notepad, it's a great way to edit HTML. Go to view/source. That's the source code for the web page you're looking at. Look at the top. The program is notepad. Getting back to my point, is it even possible to tell just by looking at a site if it's a fraud or not? I don't think so. A nice site can be pure fraud. While a yahoo free site that doesn't even have a shopping cart, just an address, could be a source of excellent values. You see, Joshua, the site gives you no clue to the person behind it. That's where fraud or honesty lies. In the person behind the site. You have no clue who is behind that great looking page that offers intriguing products. That's the anonymity of the internet. It's also a big factor in the chance you take when you decide to purchase from it. Most of the world is basically honest. Anyone who is hoping to make a successful web business will be totally honest with the customers. But, again, how do you tell the frauds from the honest retailers? It's not fair to brand the whole internet as fraud. I guess it all comes down to the risk you are willing to assume. Some people will order the majority of their purchases from internet sources. Others will avoid it like the plague. It seems that it all comes down to desire for a product, and the risk you're willing to assume to get it.

Hardly call the last guys comments a suggestion. I'd get the charges reversed.

Basically I thought that the company you mention was a good one. They have the business of contacting local florists in the area closest to the delivery route. The site seems to have a way to track orders and their customer service number is 1-800-468-1141 (got it off the site), also method to email them, they even have a form of online chat room customer service! I listed more of the numbers I found of the site to try below. I'd get the charges reversed with the lack of tracking information the company will fail to provide to your credit card company. As for the last guy's suggestions, basically I doubt you went to a webpage which looked like it was compiled in notepad, which had only western union method of payment, ect. From what it looks like the company looks credible. You shouldn't of have the problem you had with them.

Well, isn't that how fraud is supposed to work?

They took your money. They didn't send anything. No phone number to call. No way to complain. It sounds like this fraud is working just fine to me. They got your money, so they must be doing something right. Seriously, when will people learn to stop sending away their money to trash they found on the internet? What's the matter, no flower shops in Teaneck? They deliver. At least with the corner store, you'll know who to talk to if the flowers never arrive. Read through these complaints until you find the editor's suggestion for how to get your money back. Follow the instructions. Reverse the credit card charges. Then, send a donation. Trust me, if you keep turning to the internet for the things you need, you'll definitely want to bookmark this site. Something tells me you'll be meeting up with a lot more fraud in the future.

Two days later no acknowledgement of their terrible lack of service or apology

End of the business day, Feb. 16th, and no acknowledgement of their terrible lack of service or apology has been received from 1-800-Flowers.com. It appears as if they accepted and confirmed Valentine's Day flower orders but made no attempt to deliver anything!
