I had a problem with my GE refrigerator and I contacted Total Home Protection to file a claim. A technician came to my home to diagnose the problem and I paid the $45.00 fee. When I tried to determine what they were going to do the company told me they were no longer working with Total Home Protection and they would not service my refrigerator. I called Total Home Potection and I was informed they were going to pay me $300.00 and would not authorize a repair because it was too costly and they were going to buy out my refrigerator for $300.00.
My refrigerator is only 5 years old and I could not replace it for $300.00. Shortly after that I had a problem with a burner on my gas stove. When the technician came out to fix it I asked him if he thought it was reasonable to receive $300.00 for my refrigerator and he examined the problem and told me he was certain he could repair it for $300.00 - $325.00. I called Total Home Protection and explained what had occurred. I was told if I wanted to proceed with the repair I would have to pay for the repair and THP/Service Plus would reimburse the $300.00 but no more.
So I proceeded with the repair on December 13th, 2021. I submitted the required documentation to THP/Service Plus and I received a phone call from a supervisor informing me that I would be receiving a reimbursement check. It is now March 8th, 2022 and I still do not have my check. After numerous calls to THP and return calls from supervisors I still can not get my reimbursement.
I am now contacting my state Consumer Protection Office to file a complaint against THP/Serv ice Plus. Please be forewarned - DO NOT purchase a Home Warranty Plan from Service Plus. It will be an enormous mistake on your part!!
