We already expect to get half assed companies when we go through AHS, but Safe Cali Plumbing is hands down THE WORST we have ever had in 15 + years of owning multiple properties and AHS plans.
Our water heater needed to be replaced. They came out and never mentioned anything other than yes, we can replace your water heater, and we will send in the info to AHS and get approval going.
We get the quote, and they added $2700 worth of "upgrades" that were not covered in our plan.
They said because of codes, we needed to do all kinds of stuff like a second wall, new venting, get a new pump, and a whole list of other stuff before they can do the work.
I asked Mary, who was so rude, to please send us a price breakdown as well as the following so that we could see for ourselves if, in fact, the codes and work she is referring to are correct and necessary.

3: The make and model of the new. 50 gallon water heater they were billing over $3000 to AHS
4: wether the "upgrades" were nece6per Ca code or if they were merely a recommendation from them
(PRICE TRANSPARENCY IS EVERYONES RIGHT AND IT'S THE COMPANIES LEGAL OBLIGATION)
She said, "No problem, I'll send it over now." Two days go by and no email, so I call and find out she supposedly sent the email the day before but to the wrong email address which is odd because AHS has it correct on the work order.
Why she would not double check or follow up is beyond me. Probably because she never sent it or she was too lazy.
So, I give her the correct email that afternoon and it wasn't until 1:30 AM that she finally sent over the email and guess what? The attachment was blank!
I don't know what's worse, the blank doc or the fact that she sent it at 1:30 am on a Wednesday.
We email Mary again and ask her to please copy what was written on the attachment and either insert it in the body of the email or to please type it out, as well as address the 4 questions we had asked.
We never heard from them again after trying multiple times to reach them. Straight up silent treatment.
They are SO SHADY. They were banking on us being desperate to get the job done because we had no hot water. They figured we would be a sucker and let them extort us and when we started asking questions, they continued to ignore us hoping we would give in because we wanted to be able to shower.
We went without hot water for almost 2 weeks because of this shady, rude ,ignorant, crappy company and specifically, Mary who repeatedly tried to scam us.
We called AHS and filed a formal complaint against them. We are also in talks with the state licensing board because we aren't the only ones this place has tried to pull this scam on. There is review after review from people claiming the same thing, that Safe Cali tries to add on thousands of dollars of work that the home warranty doesnt cover.
tIt is now my missioin to put this company on blast with every single online forum I can find.
Safe Cali sometimes responds to negative reviews to try to make themselves look like they aren't the pieces of crap that they are, which is a joke. They assign blame to the customer which is a weak and transparent attempt to try to make themselves look like they aren't the dishonest scammers that they really are.
They try to say things like the customers claim was denied by AHS and that's why they're mad, but that is not the case here. We would have had no problem paying out if pocket had they just been transparent about the charges instead of playing games.
We called two other Plumbing services to come and give us an estimate without saying anything about what Safe Cali said. Both plumber's gave us the same work estimate which was replacing the water heater and a few valves. Under $1000 for EVERYTHING including taking away the old water heater. That's it. None of the other stuff needed to be done per Ca code.
A special acknowledgment to Mary. You're you're a liar and although I don't have proof, I suspect that maybe you're on drugs or you were drunk because no one in their right mind would think it's ok to send a customer an email at 1:30 in the morning - a blank email nonetheless.
Safe Cali Plumbing, you're a disgrace. In closing, to anyone who uses AHS, just a reminder, if you're assigned Safe Cali, immediately call and get someone else.
