Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

This company from my research has several private partnerships that funded them to be able to buy up locally owned storage unit businesses. The investors are pretty much paid an 8% income stream annually from what I can gather. This results in the company raising prices in less than a year or so to very high amounts.

My rent in one year went from $151.00 a month to $181.00 to $236.00 a month without any improvements in security or service that I can see. All in less than a year! They have driven me out by raising costs. I had two units at one point, now I will not keep any units.  Prime storage won and chased me out of their units!

The local management on premises while nice people are useless to prorate a month’s rental. Yet if I abandon the unit early they will double dip in one month. Rent to another lessee while collecting rent from me! Do the math the increase in total in a year or so was around 50%. I was notified only 5 days ahead of the rent increase by e-mail. DO NOT AGREE TO E-MAIL ONLY WITH THESE PEOPLE. Too easy for e-mails to get lost in your inbox.

Their  claim is that the previous owner had low rates and they are just adjusting to market rates. Something they do not divulge in the contract. Also when I asked for a copy of the contract I signed from Angela (The only nice person at Prime)- I never received it! Clearly to me she was instructed not to send the contract out. Imagine if they actually divulged to new renters that their rent will go up at minimum 8%-25%+ per year! They never would divulge they owe their investors that amount on the private non- public partnerships they created to gather the funds to buy up locally owned storage units.

Hey I believe in capitalism not this kind though, this is highway robbery. Taking advantage of temporary movers that paid big money to have their items moved to a storage unit while their house is being built. Landscapers that have so much equipment they cannot store it at home. RV and Boat owners they have difficulty finding a new storage unit provider. All leads to buyer beware with these guys. And to boot when I offered to leave on the second of the month and  they refused to pro- rate the unit and return three weeks of rental. Why not obviously they can rent my unit immediately? If they could not rent  immediately then why jack up someone’s rent by 25% is less than half a year?
