On January 27, 2023, I made a reservation with Expedia for a 3-day rental car with Nextcar rental car in Fort Lauderdale airport. The day that I pick up the car I noticed several customers complaining about hidden charges and displeasing with what they had gone through in their rentals. The only customer service agent was taking care of 3 customers at the same time and he was unprofessional and disrespectful to the customers. That was a sign of what was coming next.

On the second day of having the rental car, the car stopped working at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center parking garage. We tried all the features in the car and nothing was working. I called the rental company several times and my daughter also sent a text to the number on the website where which says to send a text if support was needed. After several attempts since no one in this company knew what they were supposed to do, they took all my information and told me they had called a tow truck and they were going to be on our way in about 40 minutes. They also sent me two messages confirming the tow truck was on its way. After an hour of waiting, I called the tow truck company to find out Nextcar had never sent a tow truck, to begin with. I tried to contact the company again and nobody picked up the phone. I decided to leave the car in the parking lot since I had a flight to catch. I notified security at the Convention Center to let them know about the situation and I left notes in the car saying that the car was going to be picked up later that day. I took a cab to the rental car company to return the keys and let them know about the situation. They gave me a receipt stating the information about the car and where the car was located. Four days later a customer agent called me to ask where the car was because I never returned it, even though I had advised them about the situation of the car. The guy said he was going to investigate and not even 15 minutes later someone else called me to notify me about all the extra fees that I have to pay since the car wasn’t returned on time, I asked for a receipt detailing all the charges and a few days later they sent me a non-reply email saying that they used the $500 deposit to cover all the expenses (they didn’t try to use my car insurance or the alternate car insurance that I bought thru Expedia). This email has no phone number or address to contact them and the person who sent it didn’t use only his first name no last name or any other information that identified him as an employee of this company. I notified my bank to try to stop the transaction but it was too late the charges had been made. I have tried to contact this company several times after the incident but it's not possible because they use different names.

My rental reservation was only $148.41, plus $65.04 for 300k third-party liability insurance that they obligate customers to pay to rent from them. I was also charged a $500.00 security deposit, a total of $713 for only 2 days of rental. I have paid for a service that I did not receive since the car broke down on the second day. Why did I end up paying an 11.1% concession recovery fee, parking fees, vehicle license recoup, energy recovery, and extension fees when I notified the company on Sunday that the car broke down and they wait 4 days to pick up the car? This is the worst experience I've ever had with a car rental service and I cannot believe this company is in business. This car rental company is a complete fraud and should be INVESTIGATED. They con you into signing for extra insurance, have a lot of hidden fees and they use several different names to lure people into their horrible business operations. They call themselves "Nextcar" was who I thought I had the agreement with, OneSwitch is what all the documents say on them. (The name One Switch is nowhere in the office of Nextcar)

I wish I had looked at the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website, before booking with them. This company is not BBB accredited and has an "F" rating, 1.04 stars out of five based on an average of reviews. There are also hundreds of complaints about immoral practices unreturned deposits and other billing issues from this company all over the internet.
