Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

On December 16, 2019, I was told by a business that I frequently visit that I was banned. The business did not contact me directly.  Instead they went through the BBB. I was told that I used a Chase debit card for $42 and ended up charging back the purchase.

On January 29, 2020, I spoke to Natalie Arguello at branch in San Diego CA.  She verified I did not have any active accounts with Chase. She wrote me a letter stating I had a previous account which was closed on October 29, 2013.

I have a copy of the charge back notice.  Merchant number 542930510008931. Card used 426684xxxxxx0843. Card preset. Chip read.

Transaction date October 30. 2019

Reason code 13.7 Cancelled merchandise services.

Card issuer Chase bank

So the merchant I believe used my name in malice to have me banned using someone's else card.

Consumer lawyer in San Diego is taking on a lawsuit against the health club for data breach, fraudulent use of my name and using another person's debit card to create the disaster.

You are basically accusing the merchant of ID theft, which is a crime. Why would any merchant go through all of this just to have you banned? As a business they just have to say they no longer want you there. There are a lot simpler, and legal, ways to accompish this. Also, I have never heard of a business contacting the BBB to put a dispute against a customer. Instead the business would send the customer a letter and/or invoice directly for the amount due.

I read your other report. This business that you "frequent" you have visted 3 times in the last 7 years, hardly what someone would consider a "regular". Which makes it even less of a reason to go through this entire conspiracy theory you seem to have created.

So obviously there is more to this story than you are posting. Now, whether you are not giving us the entire story is one thing. However, it is likley you may be a victim of true Identity Theft. In which case you have bigger issues and need to start to check your Credit Report to make sure nothing else is showing up.

But then in the end why you writing up Chase if you are accusing the Merchant? It seems that Chase is trying to help by writing you a letter that states you don't have an account with them. They are not asking for any money and nothing you posted here states they have done anything negative against you. If this Merchant is attaching your name to the Chargeback Chase had no control over that.

Why would Chase do that? Did you leave them owing money or in another bad way?

What I would recommend is that you check your credit record. it's far more probable taht you've been the victim of identity theft and someone is using your data for their profit.

My friend, if someone went into a business you frequent often and purchased merchandise only to turn around and issue a chargeback, and you were NOT the person who initiated the transaction, then you are more likely a victim of identity theft - particularly since you don't have an active account at this bank.

You need to start checking your credit reports immediately to see what other damage this person may be causing you.  You probably also need to contact the police and report your identity has been stolen as well.  You have a lot of work in front of you and it may be a couple of years before this is all fixed.

BTW, no business would ban you if you do legitimate business with them.  Stop thinking and start acting.
