I hired Joan Joffa, LLC from Tampa, FL, as a publicist for my book launch. According to our signed agreement, she was hired to (see her promises below):
- Research a list of up to 100 sources and identify the top 50 (this is a starting point)
- Craft a VIP Emailer with one sheet, note from author and book to be sent to the top list
- Book a network affiliate tour in your state, or neighboring states
- Develop package to send to booking editors interested in the topic
- Find a (spin) on a topic that can be geared toward the time of year
- Provide media contact, follow up and logistics for each placement
- *Speaking engagements- planning over 90 days
- Identify a list of viable topics tied to book for speeches
- Establish marketing materials for this effort
- Universities/colleges, Women's groups. Corporate settings etc.
Joan Joffa failed to produce any of the agreed upon deliverables. I hired her at the beginning of March 2019 and terminated our business relationship at the end of May 2019.
She had three months to work on this project and failed to do anything. I couldn't even get her to send me a review or progress updates of her work, as she promised she would again and again.
She apologized and admitted in an email that she didn't do any work and asked to continue working. I terminated the relationship. She was given 10 days to provide me with a refund. She waited until after the 10 days to respond and then asked me for an additional 30 days.
I am filing a lawsuit. I believe this is a delay tactic and she had no intention of refunding my money. Joan Joffa has not followed through on her professional obligations.
I would NEVER recommend hiring her.
