Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I made a reservation through GuestReservtions.com as a part of an upcoming work trip related to a not-for-profit.  The per room night was substantially less than the amount charged so I figured these were due to taxes and / or fees.  I reached out to GuestReservations.com and asked about levels of taxation as this again is related to a not-for-profit work trip and was told they cannot provide a breakdown of State or Federal Tax.  The transaction has been processed on my credit card but GuestReservations.com cannot provide me with a full understanding or breakdown, hence I am not even sure what they have paid for or if taxes is being taken out of the charges.

After multiple attempts to attempts to find out what level of taxes I have paid I got this response from GuestReservations.com "The tax recovery charge is a recovery of the estimated taxes that we pay to the lodging suppliers for your reservations. You acknowledge that we do not collect taxes for remittance to applicable taxing authorities. The lodging provider charges us for taxes and the lodging supplier remits the applicable taxes to the taxing authorities. We do not act as co-vendors with the suppliers or reserve our customer’s travel arrangements. We also collect a service fee for facilitating your reservation. Since we do not collect the taxes, we are unable to provide an exact breakdown of the taxes assessed."

Does this mean a financial transaction has occurred between an individual and a business and no taxes were paid or does this mean that the applied charges could just be an estimate and could increase dramatically based upon factors beyond the controls of the consumer?

I would like to know I am doing my fair share and paying my taxes as legally required however GuestReservations.com cannot provide evidence of this occurring despite transaction already taking place.
