Our fully paid reservation was cancelled by the Owner just a few days before our trip was to start.  We had paid well ahead of time. Had WE cancelled we would have lost our entire rental fee.

Neither the Owner nor VRBO, however, suffered any consequences. 

They sent a number to call, we are from Canada and were not aware that the number they sent us was in Austin Texas.  I waited close to an hour on my cellphone which does not have USA service and resulted in a very high phone bill. VRBO sent us email links to possible rentals, the properties were all more expensive than our original rental.

 We finally paid more for our new rental and were in no way compensated by VRBO or the host for the cancellation or the higher costs incurred.  I have been reading VRBO reviews and was surprised to see that my experience is not unusual.  I would not recommend this company.
