Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Our company was contracted by Cynosure Health Organization – A FRADULENT COMPANY!!!! Jason Byrd found us online from our website and sent our company an email with an RFP attached.  He was looking for an event planner to coordinate logistics for a “Medical Conference” that “would” take place over 2 days on September 14th, 2019.  He needed us to search and book a venue for the conference, which I did and used our trusted relationships to hold the space with no money down.

He also wanted us to provide assistance to block off 70 rooms for accommodation, prepare event catering and find space for an exhibition.  The budget for the event was $75,000.  When we asked for our deposit he let us know that the money was forthcoming from a sponsor (which isn’t unusual in our business).  He was very clear that the monies that came from the sponsor needed to be used to cover immediate bookings and reservations.

The RFP appeared very legit. We have been in the business over 20 years and this is how all RFP’s are presented.  The agreement process did not seem out of the ordinary.  I received a cheque in the amount of $19,785.50 form Restaurant L’Express, Les Promotions de Pier Inc. cheque # 004998. Jason insisted that I deposit these cheques right away.  Since this was not the normal procedure that I follow, I created a letter of direction to be very clear with the client of how I will be distributing the monies.

Once I had sign off from Jason, I went to the bank and opened a separate account to deposit the money. I transferred our payment to our account.  Two days later when the deposit appeared to be cleared, I went to the bank to request the payments for the vendors he asked me to pay from the funds.  Five days later I was extremely shocked to hear from the bank that the cheque was counterfeit.  The thing that most people don’t know is that a cheque can appear legit and takes over a week to be returned if counterfeit.

I emailed him immediately and although he pretended to be shocked I never heard from him again.  The following day I called the authorities and filed a written statement and formal report.  A lot of energy and time was put into planning and executing his requests.  This is a huge scam and I am warning the next person who gets an email from him to report it to the authorities.
