Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

My client owns a small business in LA area. At one point my client was recruited by CIAM for a consulting engagement offered by students of CIAM. Since there are many sub-par quality, unknown schools out there in Los Angeles, out of concern I've advised my client against getting the consulting from them.

Yet since the consulting was free (though not free b/c he had to sacrifice his valuable time) my client didn't listen and went ahead with them.

As expected, it turned out it was the most useless consulting my client has ever done. Client told me students were ill-mannered and unprofessional. There was one time when students assigned to my client's case called the client via Skype for interview and they called the client from a shopping mall!

The consulting report they handed to my client as an end-product of the consulting was a pure garbage. And the person who recruited my client for the consulting turned out to be quite rude, my client told me this person said "I've been in the consulting industry for decades and never heard of your industry." It's a shame because the industry my client is in has been in existence for at least 40 years!

My client absolutely got nothing out of it and wasted weeks of valuable time which could have spent for more productive projects.   Based on what I see, I can attest to this with confidence: students at CIAM are NOT FOR consulting. They just don't have a talent and an aptitude necessary for this type of work. I'm sure these students have other great talents, just not this one.

What your "client" got was basically an Intern for no cost to give them experience, and it seems as if you may have been expecting someone who has decades of experience. Sometimes Interns are great..sometimes not.

Now, we have no idea why in the world your "client" isn't writing this report as all we are getting is what you say your "client" is saying. But in this case you should be asking your "client" some very serious questions. Such as if they were this unprofessional and performing Skype interviews from a shopping mall, why did your "client" continue to deal with them and wasting weeks of their time?

What is also very odd here is what your relationship with your "client" is. Perhaps you are a consultant as well, after all you are in a role to "advise" your client. So perhaps these students aren't as bad as you are claiming or your "client" didn't see it as much of a failure as you did, and it is really just a fear of competition.

Then one does also have to ask, if your client has been in an industry for about 40 years(which by the way I wonder why you didn't disclose it), how did this person who never heard of this industry come in contact with your "client"?

Things just aren't adding up here.
