I purchased a previously owned 2004 Mini Cooper. It had relatively low mileage and was told there was only one previous owner who used it as a second car. I was presented with a clean Carfax report. This led me to believe I was purchasing a car that was reliable and safe.

It did not initially pass Maryland inspection. It was described as having " rotted and cracked" front tires which needed to be replaced. After only having the car for two weeks, it woulkd not start one morning. After attempts to jump start it failed, I contacted Brown's. It was legally parked on the street and was hit. I had it towed to a Mini dealership to establish why it would not start and repair the body damage.

The service technician after examing the car, could not find a reason why the car would not start as it was now starting. He suspected the old battery and a non-manufacturer's cable were the issues. Worse, he asked how it passed inspection as it had several other major problems, including a leaking brake line, broken engine mount and shredded struts. He estimated the cost to repair these would be $7.000. Management at Brown's say they want me to be happy with the purchase but then reply I bought the vehicle "as is".  I assert they sold me an unsafe vehicle.
