Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Bluegreen will not let me reserve any vacation time that I want because of blackout dates and not enough points. They lure my husband and I every year with $100 Visa card just to get us to upgrade and take more money, we go to Las Vegas the closest to where we live.

When we refuse to upgrade we can feel the attitude and tension in the room. The hour long meeting turns into two or three hrs. because they are pressuring us to upgrade. This is the worst decision that I’ve ever made.

We never received a statement or anything showing how much we’ve paid on our timeshare. I looked at my paperwork and they have us paying $140.00 a month for 10yrs. on a $8,000 mortgage that we can never use at our convenience. We are paying maintenance fees on property we can never use....

Timeshares Are a Ridiculous Waste

First, stop going to these upgrade meetings.  Simply put, a $100 VISA card simply to force you to attend a meeting isn't worth your time.  Neither is a free breakfast, gambling chips, free tickets to a show, or any other incentive.  Just stop.  Don't go.  If they insist you go, tell them to shove it and die.  You bought a timeshare to enjoy your vacation, not to attend meetings.

Now, a timeshare is a ripoff, not because of the payments, but because of the other experience.  A timeshare is considered real estate according to the law, yet you can't use the real estate you supposedly own and can use?  How absurd is that?  Now, what is the value of the timeshare?

I can tell you it probably isn't even worth the $8,000 the mortgage indicates - it could even have a value of maybe 5-10% of that on the secondary market.  It's real estate you can't sell.  The maintenance fees you pay are just salt on an open wound.  If you got money to burn and you don't care about thousands of dollars going up in smoke (and there are people like this I know), then a timeshare is OK only because money means little to people who have too much of it.

Remember, just stop going to meetings, and best of luck to you....

"They lure my husband and I every year with $100 Visa card just to get us to upgrade and take more money". "When we refuse to upgrade we can feel the attitude and tension in the room". I would advise you to seek legal help to understand what your actual contract with this company states.

Next, I would not allow them to "lure you" every year with a bogus $100 VISA card. What happens if you refuse to attend a meeting? This is a deliberate tactic to get you away from your home and support system. Lastly, the pay back rate you describe may be illegal.

Again, seek legal advice or police involvement. I think you may have been mislead by this time share company. Good luck.
