In Dec 2018, I submitted a negative review on an attorney because he did not disclose his fees when asked. It was a factual review and never violated Avvo's community guidelines. It was approved and posted. The attorney called to harass me about the review.

Then the attorney disputed the review, so Avvo took it down. They emailed me a request to verify my review and then they'd repost it. I did and the review was reposted. I received an email confirmation saying so. Then they took it down again. I called their customer care department and asked for a manager.

The manager emailed me saying that although I was promised a reposting in March, he had the authority to change the rules because the attorney disputed. I called customer service and was treated rudely before being disconnected. I called again but could not get through (they screen incoming calls).

I was able to get through to the sales department and asked for my complaint to be escalated. Still, there has been no resolution. These people are loyal to attorneys because those are whom pay Avvo. The customer service manager should play by the rules rather than take sides with attorneys.

You're either a lawyer or someone advocating for Avvo.com. They work in the best interests of lawyers because they get paid to advertise by lawyers. That is their bread and butter of the business. They take a biased approach against victims of lawyers who are unethical. I'm sorry if you disagree with my post.

Your Facts are Irrelevant

It really matters little whether you believe what you posted was true.  100% or 1000% true from your perspective is irrelevant.  The truth is always the truth from a certain point of view.  It is certainly not an absolute or universal truth.

The point is it could be false.  When you post to a website like the one you're complaining about, you are at the mercy of the website's moderators - there is no such thing as free speech on a website.  The lawyer who you complained about will challenge the posting, and the moderators, unsure of really what the truth is, will err on the side of caution, and remove your post.  It is really that simple.

The customer service manager should play by the rules rather than take sides with attorneys.  And just what exactly are those rules?  You want the website to leave the posting up because you believe it to be true?  Really?  Is your truth the only truth to be considered?  And if your posting wasn't entirely true, then what?  Leaving the posting up would expose all parties to a potential lawsuit for slander.  If there is any doubt, and there certainly is based on what you posted, then the posting comes down.  The customer service manager was correct to keep your posting off of the website.  Why?  Because he's playing by the rules, to use your phrase.
