Did your computer come with a warranty either thru Best Buy or gateway (don't mean an extended warranty sold separately). Maybe you can take that avenue. I have had 3 gateways with no problems (including a laptop). I know every once in while there has to be a bad one though. Customer service was good too whenever talking about an upgrade. Any problems like the one you had should have been escalated to the call centers supervisor or something.

Yes I run current protection w firewall, virus, spyware etc. This was loaded on my computer by the Geek Squad and checked each time they came out. That hasnt been an issue.

Yes, I am sure. I have had 2 different computer experts look at it already and hand it back saying motherboard. Please realize also GATEWAY's own staff has acknowledged that it was probably a faulty board, yet will not replace, or even give me a discount to fix or replace. Best Buy has acknowleded the same and is apparently unable to help. Additional comment: Their length of warranties differ on the same product depending on what store you purchase from. I never knew that.

Just curious because I have a Gateway laptop, used even, and it has not given me any problems...Perhaps you had malware (spyware, potentially unwanted programs, etc.) or viruses on the machine. You do not say whether you were using antivirus, antispyware, firewall and so on to protect the computer. If you were not, then very likely a lot of garbage got in and messed up your system for which neither Gateway nor Best Buy would be to blame. If it really is a lemon, though, then I hope you obtain a resolution.
