Hewlitt-Packard Co HP, Compaq Misleading Advertising and Labeling Palo Alto, California
Hewlitt-Packard Co sold DV 5000 series notebooks as being "Vista Capable" however all of the necessary drivers were not available for Vista, or for Linux. This was due to a deal made with Microsoft and Broadcom. HP agreed to use broadcom chipsets in their devices and thus conspired to keep users locked in to using the Microsoft Windows operating System. to this day HP does not will not and can not provide any drivers for the broadcom chipset for the wifi, or the blue-tooth drivers. Although the notebook cost in excess of $1550, apparently, the ownership of the hardware was not included in the price. HP lied about the specs of the notebook to sell it.
