Target National Bank - Target Financial Services Target stores Credit Card scam Internet
Customers I am adding to the many reports of the outragious pratices by Target primarly the Card operations. The stores push the card on you and then charge excessive fees, although I had established a payment plan they continued to bill, add late fees, and file negative records on my credit report. Sure you can dispute them but that takes time to go through the system, but all they have to do is type it into a system and then it is up to you to fight it.
I will not take any more Business to Target.

Lyn B,
After you were told they did not receive your second mailing you should have sent the documents via registered mail.

To make the story short... we have 2 Target cards since 2003, 1 in my name and husband's name, both are $1,000 credit limit. For 7 yrs had NO issues with Target, The Military Pay is the 1st and 15th and both Targets are scheduled for PYMT on 15th of every month (which I would schedule a week prior to the 15th) and Target Due date is 19th of every month.
1 month prior to husband leaving, he always turns in the paper work SCRA stating he will be deploying and out of those 3xs twice (2xs) they accepted the SCRA (Soldiers and Sailors Act- meaning APR drops to 6% and waived late or overdraft fees while in combat)
Both targets are paid online and we don't receive paper stmt. August 2009 I noticed Target is the ONLY one that has NOT responded to the SCRA being approved, we got the letter from the other 3 except Target. I called and was told to send the Orders and Power of Attorney in again, did that and then mid Sept when I went in to schedule the pymt, I was locked out from his account stating we needed to call Customer Service. I called and was told they need to speak to my husband and I told them the situation and that I sent in the Power of Attorney and Orders 1 month ago. They didn't get it they said and its not notated on the computers regarding me speaking to someone in August, which the rep I spoke too said she would add a note that we're waiting for the SCRA. Well I said I need to access my husbands account because I need to pay his bill, she said she is gladly able to help me and I gave her the bank information and paid $50 and that it would take 2-3 business days to process, I said "OKAY" cause it was done on 12th.
Time went by and in MAY 2010 all of a sudden my husband got a stmt from Target stating that he owes $312, of course I cannot see where or why because it wasn't an actual stmt, just a payment reminder note. I am VERY confused and called and rep and she told me "IF YOU READ THE STMT YOU WOULD HAVE SEEN THE LATE FEES" I told her, "we don't get stmt and that we pay online and that I was SHUT out from the online 3 months AFTER he left and IF You ask to speak to him... he IS IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE IN IRAQ and he cannot call. I asked her WHEN this happened and she said it occurred since September 2009, I back tracked the check that I FIRST pymt I made by phone and they cleared it 8 DAYS AFTER... which fell in the LATE PYMT when I was told 2-3 business days for a check to clear, which it was Sept 12, 2009 and the bill was due Sept 19th. It took 8 days to go through.
The lady said Pay the late fees and bring the account to snuff cause its occuring over the credit limit as well, I was like WHAT? She said if I paid it NOW she will lift the collections and that I will be able to pay online within 24 hours, so I paid it. We sent 3 (THREE) Power of Attorney's and Orders since he left last July 2009 and STILL they NEVER got it... I got tired of dealing with them and since my husband was coming home July 2010, I'd let him deal with it... I have paper trails of times, date and what was said on paper and when my husband read it, he was NOT happy.
He called them up and spoke to higher up who handles the SCRA and they said they NEVER EVER had him on SCRA since he's opened the account in 2002. WELL thanks to ME I keep all those records and letters in a Military SCRA file and we made copies and sure enough sent in 2 letters FROM TARGET dated in 2003 and 2006 that they approved his SCRA. Well, it got taken care of so they said they would credit the account and waive the late fees and overdrawn fees and today, we got his stmt that IT NEVER GOT TAKEN CARE OF. WE just paid it off today and closed the accounts. Will NEVER deal with them ever again and we have not shopped there for over a year.
USA IS SUFFERING FROM JOB LOSTS and they give people in India customer service jobs while Americans can very well need any job to survive. I asked the rep who had a BAD English where he was located and he said he was in INDIA, I asked Your NOT in the USA right now as we speak he said "No No Ima India"
Since Obama came up with the new credit card / bank fee's... creditors went from nice to greedy and will do whatever it takes to make money.

I just love people who say that things like this are a "scam".
All Target did was offer you a credit card. They didn't force you to open it, when they ask you could just say NO. They didn't force you to use it, they accept many other forms of payment including CASH(yea I know that is really hard to believe isn't it). Then it is nice how you just slip in this little comment.
although I had established a payment plan
Okay you don't establish on a Payment plan if you are current and paying on time. So is it really any wonder why you are charged late fees, and have negative information on your credit report?
Depending on the company they may or may not waive late fees. But rarely do they remove previous negative information and may continue to report you as late until you are truly current. Just be sure to keep up with the payment plan, because if you don't they will probably Charge-Off the account and if you think they are bad just wait until you get to deal with Collection Agencies.
