I purchased my warranty in June 2010 for a 60 month or 100k mile warranty.  This is supposed to cover mechanical and electrical issues as it relates to my vehicle (07 Tahoe). I have 76k on the vehicle and I have had the service done at all intervals by my local Chevrolet dealer.   I do not abuse this service as this is only the second time I have made a claim.  Unfortunately, this is also the second time I have been denied.

My front seats are electronically controlled and my passenger seat stopped working the other day.  I take good care of my vehicles, so I was surprised, but relieved that my warranty would cover this as it specifically states mechanical and electrical coverage for parts.   I took it to the dealer who told me that the wire harness controlling this had been frayed by the rubbing on the guide rail and had finally worn thru.  Unfortunately, National Warranty Corp said they would not cover it because the harness had fallen our of "factory" position and therefore they were not responsible.  Upon looking at it myself and with the repair technician, we determined that it had fallen due to the weight of the harness over time (gravity) and not from neglect or error.

Furthermore, my warranty does not mention fraying of wires, but it does say it covers mechanical and electrical operating parts (other than service items). I would say this wire harness is part of the mechanical and electrical parts covered.

My assessment is this company is looking for ways to get out of covering any claim by making rules that are not specified in the contract.  This company runs a scam and should be publically called out for doing so.
