In reviewing my January '03 Verizon billing statement, I noticed a peculiar charge of $29.95 categorized as "ILD Teleservices"... said charges, billed on behalf of Liberty Online Services.

I telephoned Verizon, which communicated that ILD was a large billing corporation, which billed on behalf of smaller telcom companies. Verizon then directed me to ILD customer service.

After holding for a lengthy period of time an ILD representative picked up and confirmed that ILD does indeed bill on behalf of Liberty Online Services. When I stated that I had never engaged Liberty Online Services for anything, the ILD representative promptly assured me that the charges would be credited to my Verizon account within 1-3 billing cycles.

I further inquired of the ILD representative, where or how I might contact Liberty Online Services, to which the representative replied, "I don't know anything about them or how you might contact them".

Based on the ILD representative's immediate willingness to credit the charges in question, without any form of discussion and coupled with her general tone of... "here we go again", the inference is that the fraudulent charges assessed by Liberty Online Services, is a frequent and habitual practice.
