I have been a member of this gym for several years.  I signed up for 3 months of personal training at $209 per month.  I did not sign a paper contract.  They have electronic keypads on which you sign while the salesperson explains what you are signing for.  At the end of the term I was charged a 4th time.  I emailed corporate right away, because this is the only way you can communicate with the people in charge.  I received an email back stating that I signed up for 6 months.  I went straight to the salesperson and his exact words were "oh yes, you were very clear that you only wanted 3 months.  I am going to corporate tomorrow and will talk to them".  He never called me back.  I left several messages at the gym and several emails, but corporate's only response was your term ends after 6 months.  I went in to see the salesperson again, he shook my hand and promised it would be taken care of.  Several emails and calls later his story began to change, and he would avoid me at all costs.  I went in to speak to other managers, but he was never available to discuss in person with other managers around.

I wrote a review on google and noticed another person wrote of the same thing happened to her.  She signed something different of what she was verbally being told.

I understand that it is my mistake and lesson learned - I will never trust anyone again and ask to read what I am signing - certainly not take the salesperson word for it, but if this is happening to other people it should be looked into.  This shows that this dishonest behavior is part of their business practices and they need to stop.

The other managers at the gyn that I spoke with were sympathetic, but stated it is all out of their hands.  Corporate has the final say - but I can't speak to corporate - I am only allowed to communicate with them through email.  Corporate's only response each and every time was that the contract was signed.  They never addressed that I was verbally told somehting else or that the salesperson agreed that I only wanted 3 months of personal training.
