Jasper Contractors, Inc Ripping off their salesmen Internet
//
After reading the pay structure for Jasper Contractors that yield somewhere between $432 and $192 commission on an 8k job (current salesman vs ex salesman's calculations)
its pretty obvious its their salesmen who are getting ripped off.
A normal commission structure for companies that are fair to their people (not giant storm chaser turn and burn types) is 10% overhead then split the profit generally around 50/50. Some companies have paid a 10 percent flat percentage but that method is less common now. On a roof coming in at 250 a square, the commission would 960 dollars.
All day, every day, year in, year out, long after Jasper Contractors has left town.
Jasper and all storm chasers will tell you how amazing they are and to watch out for all other roofers. However, with the little tiny percentage they are paying, it looks like the thing they are the best at is taking advantage of new salesmen that don't know any better.
Companies that travel around have no incentive to be good to their people or care about the longevity of the roofs they put on. Its all about quick money now, and the salesmen and homeowners that use them are the big losers.

Jasper keeps the majority of the profit generated, that is a fact.
I poured myself into the company for 7 mos.(very very few last that long)the turnover is 99%+
I thought if I made the commitment I would have a solid carreer...Wrong!
The owner Brian Wedding is a maniacal phsyco that will fire someone for any little thing that bothers him, he does not care about his people at all.
In the training classes, new guys are told not to talk to him.
Jasper is just a large storm chasing company that does short term leases on a building to appear to be local. They flood neighborhoods with new guys like locusts to get around 15 installs a day to make a ton of money in a short period of time. They are all about volume.
They churn and burn sales people like no company I have ever seen.
I feel bad for guys that will make the same commitment I did, it just won't matter.

#3General Comment

I will preface my comment here with the disclaimer that I am a salesman for a roofing company which is NOT Jasper Roofing / Jasper Contractors... and after reading the various reports and rebuttals here, I am glad that's the case! I had to chime in to reiterate and add support to what has been said here as companies like this hurt everyone involved: the homeowners, the salesmen, the roofing industry as a whole, and eventually, when the company has run itself into the ground, themselves!
