On June 9th, 2011 I rented a car at Advantage Rent-a-Car, which I later found out was owned by Hertz. I made a reservation for a small car, and the e-mail confirmation said that it would be a 4-door car that could seat 5 people and fit 2 large suitcases and 1 small suitcase. I got to the rental center in Denver, CO and I was asked if I wanted to upgrade. I said no and was given a 2-door Yaris. There is no way 5 people can fit into a Yaris; forget the suitcases. I finally had to get a Camry instead, but in the meanwhile, I was sent a confirmation e-mail filled with completely false information. When I called about it they were completely useless. I finally gave in and just accepted it.
What really angered me (and drove me to write this review) was that today, June 23rd, 2011 I looked at my bank account and found a random charge from a company called American Traffic Solutions. I did some research into it and it turns out that Hertz has something called Plate Pass, which they do not tell you about, and to tell you the truth, I don't fully understand what its for. I didn't go through any tolls in my rental car. Whatever Plate Pass is, you get charged for it, but its not Hertz that charges you. Hertz gives your credit card number to this other company and they charge you.
So, what we have here is a company defrauding you, illegally giving your credit card number to another company, and will deny it until you threaten them with legal action. As soon as you see this charge, call the Hertz corporate office and make sure they know you have no issues taking legal action against them.
