A week or so ago, I reported being contacted daily by phone from Global Vantage telling me to call back. When I called they confirmed the name and started telling me we owed some $500 to Sears Citi Card, and tried to collect money for us over the phone. I told them we didn't owe anything and called Sears Citi card, and they confirm that we had a zero balance. I checked both my husband's and mine once/year free credit reports and they are all in good standing.

After that they kept calling daily. I did a google search and learned that they were not supposed to call to collect money without sending us a written statement first. So I called them back again and they said they have already sent us one. The address they quoted wasn't ours, the last 4-digit of the SS# wasn't our. Finally they admited that it's for the wrong person. They promissed to take our number off the list within 24-48 hours. We shall see...

If it doesn't stop I'll report them to the the Federal Trade Commission.

What I don't understand is why they keep calling, and how they are so sure they have the right person. Had I not googled about the law on this (FDCPA) I wouldn't have know they were not supposed to call till after they sent a written detail statement of what the "alledge" debt was all about.

Consumers beware. Check the laws. Thank God for the Internet.
