Gene's Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram New Car Lemon, In for repairs 5 times, issue NOT fixed, Customer service is beyond DISGUSTING Fairbanks, Alaska
In January 2011 I was forced into buying a new car as my trustworthy Explorer met with a Moose and lost the good fight. After some minor research I decided on buying a Dodge. First time away from either Chevy or Ford. I had the car just under a month and I got up one morning to a reddish pink puddle in my garage and no power steering. The car was towed back to the dealership and they made a big deal out of "fixing it for free" (isn't that normal on a warranty issue that had a recall on it too??).
6 months later I had a tire explode (during the summer). No warning light had come on, no indication that the tire was rubbing on body frame. I fought back and forth about alignment issue and finally settled with insurance company to get new tire. My car was in Genes service dept for over a month and I was not even offered a rental car or any kind of assistance. I had to call daily to get any information on what was happening. The service dept AND the sales dept failed to inform me that with an all wheel drive car that when one tire blows/needs replacing you have to replace them all. Not having owned an all wheel drive car before it was one of the things I was unaware of. This time I had only replaced the one tire that had exploded. No one said anything.
Not 6 weeks went by when I had another tire explode. Again, no warning lights, nothing. Again the car goes into the shop because now I am getting really frustrated. Again they had my car for several weeks, and tried to blame me for running car on bad tire pressure... but if the pressure was incorrect the warning light should have activated. Then I was told that I would have to replace all the tires if i didn't want my warranty voided. I was forced into buying 4 new tires at over a thousand dollar cost to me... no rental, no common curtesy.
So Now I am on round number FIVE with these people, my power steering pump blew again four weeks ago and I have been waiting on parts for repair. Two days before it is due to go into the shop again, the same tire BLEW AGAIN..... I called the service dept (as it is still under warranty) and they said they would tow it in that day and give me a ride home... no offer of a rental or even a question as to how I was going to get to work again! Now, They took my car over a week ago and I hadn't heard anything from them. I called today only to be told that they just haven't had the time to even look at it and it probably will not be looked at until Friday at the earliest (two and half weeks since they towed it). The weather outside has been -50's and my car has been left outside, not plugged in and basically abandoned by the service dept. I am beyond done with this company and their defective product. This car is definitely a lemon... and if I wanted to pursue that it would cost me an arm and a leg in attorney fees... HELP... am I the only consumer that is getting ripped off by the big companies that can afford to lose a customer or two by word of mouth....?
