On July 11, 2001 my less-than-a-month-old Focus was rear-ended by a Toyota on the Montlake Ave Bridge by the U. of Washington. Luckily, damage was limited to a few scratches on the bumper (Her car was a LOT more jacked up. Let's hear it for the Focus!)Insurance and driver's license information was exchanged.

Both of us drivers had Farmers Insurance as our carrier. I notified my agent of the loss, and she responded promptly with a claim number, and said the claims center in Kirkland would respond by the end of the day.

Two days later, I called the claims center myself, as no one at Farmers had called. I was routed into Mike D.'s voicemail, and politely left the claim info and my phone number.

The next day I was sick of waiting for Mike to call and called the claims center again. The hapless gal who answered the phone reluctantly made an appointment for me with a claims adjuster, for the 19th of July.

James R. took a look at the bumper and said the bumper would need to be replaced, and the estimate would be $690.88. I could expect a check by the middle of the next week.

A week went by. With no sign of a check, I called Mike D. again.
Maybe he was on vacation, maybe there is no Mike D., maybe Mike D. doesn't give a s**t. Whatever the reason, Mike D. never called back. I reached another paper pusher who told me no check had been issued.

I called claims adjuster James R. on July 28. He said a check had been issued, but I hadn't got it because maybe the address was wrong? Hmmmm.

This went on, back and forth, for three weeks until I finally realized I had an agent who's being paid for this nonsense. She found out that Farmers had my name, address, and claim number wrongly input by the agent of the lady who hit me.

Michael Angelo cries....."Bullshit!" I gave them my name and address a half dozen times. Every time I gave them my claim number they could find it. And no check was ever issued. How could they possibly claim it was sent to the wrong address?

Celia P. told me on August 20 that my check would be at my home by Thursday August 23. It's Friday August 24 and no check. I called Celia and got her voicemail.

When I get my check I'll let you know. Until then I'll drive around town in my ghetto-lookin'new car with the f***ed up bumper. Farmers sucks a million percent a*s.

Oh yeah: to whatever insurance agent in Snohomish County who represents the lady who hit me, you need to know that Farmers is making up lies about you.

I finally got a phone call from Farmers on Tuesday morning, 8/28. Celia P., who promised me she would take care of this herself, passed the buck to claims adjuster James R. The check came Wednesday.

Thank you!
