I bought some real estate marketing leads from Exact Data, because they were recommended by 1000callsaday.com. Turns out the leads were junk. For example, Exact Data would claim that a house was owned by "Lois Abbott" But, when I checked them leads on the Tax Assessor's Website, the real owner would be "Stephen Clark." I checked the 125,000 leads they sent me, and it appears that 46% of them were incorrect. Of course, Exact Data had a "weasel" clause that basically said they were legally allowed to sell me junk leads and it was my problem.

I placed my order after talking to Jesse Carlson at (312) 517-7248. Jesse was happy to help me and sent me an order form with the following details.

I emailed Jesse at jesse.carlson@exactdata.com with proof that it appeared that 46% of the leads were incorrect. He avoided me calls and emails. Finally, I reached out to Renee Farr the Senior Vice President of Premier Sales at Exact Data. I emailed Renee at renee.farr@exactdata.com but she didn't reply. But, she must have told Jesse to call me because he quickly returned my call.

Jesse told me that Exact Data would "open up a case" and investigate the problem. He told me to contact Tamiya Goggins at tgoggins@exactdata.com. I emailed Tamiya, explained my case, showed her the data that was wrong. But, they didn't refund my money, because I had bought "bulk" leads and should have known better.

They showed me this disclaimer that I had supposedly signed:

Your order is being fulfilled with bulk data. It was sold to us as Home owner contact info. The reason you’re receiving it at such a favorable price, is that Exact Data has not verified it, nor does it warrant the claim made by our supplier, the data owner, for its accuracy, completeness, or targeting, if any. The best use of bulk data is to backfill missing contact fields in your existing database. You do not have permission to text or email to it.

I'm not a lawyer. So, I don't know exactly what that means. I guess what it really means is that Exact Data can legally sell you junk leads, willingly and knowingly, and get away with it.

I am currently reaching out to some of the people at Exact Data to see if they can help. I'll keep you updated on my progress here.
