I bought a 1999 Lincoln Continental in Sept 2001. Captial One Auto financed the loan for me. In March, I had the car re-financed through Household Automotive.
I had just sent a payment to Capital One when I got my approval from Household Automotive. I called Capital One and asked if they had recieved that payment. They reported they had not. I asked for the pay-off amount. They gave it to me. I then asked what would happen to my payment, which they had not recieved yet, when the loan was bought by Household. They told me it would take up to 60 days to refund that money to me. I asked if I should just stop payment on that check and they advised me yes that would be good.

got the stop payment and the car re-financed. In June, I was contacted by Capital One stating I was delinquent on the amount of that payment because I had stopped payment on it. I explained to them about the phone conversation I had with their representative and that I was advised to stop payment. They gave Household Automotive the pay-off amount to include my payment because they wanted to collect on that last payment.
I was hounded and bugged EVERY day by the collections department at Capital One.

I worked the payment to them into my budget and mailed the payment on Sept 13. I then called the following week to see if they had received the payment and they reported to me that Household made a payment on Sept 10 and that closed the account. I asked if they had my payment and they said no. I called my bank and found the payment check had cleared on Sept 18 by Capital One.
I have asked for my money to be refunded and have been told it will take up to 45 days to refund this money to me. I tried to escalate this to management, but no manager will speak with me. The supervisors that speak with me are not intelligent enough to comprehend why this has happened and they can not seem to find where they applied my last payment to?? What is that about?
So, now I have to wait 45 days to get MY money refunded to me.

This company is LOUSY and I do not recommend them to anyone for a car loan.
