Z-Tel Communications is a Rip Off! Z-Tel Should be We-Smell!
6/29/00 - I went to z-tel.com and had an online chat with a
representative. I asked if I could pay my balance of $152 online. She told me normally I'd have to call in to make the payment, but she would accept payment this one time only online. I paid the balance with my Visa.
7/10 I Called to see if the payment had been received. Not yet.
7/22 I called to request a transfer of my service to a new address. I was told it would take 2 to 4 weeks.
8/7 Called to see how long it was going to be before I got my service switched over. I was told my bill was overdue and I had to pay it before they transferred. The payment had never been received. I asked them to let me speak to a representative in billing and was told billing was in another state. I asked for the number and the phone rep didn't know. I asked if she could transfer to me someone who knew the number and she said no one knew the number!
8/10 I found the number to collections and asked why wasn't the
payment posted. She didn't know. I agreed to call later a pay again.
8/17 Called collections and gave my credit card number and asked a rep, once again, to transfer my service. He told me I had to pay the new amount ($239) I told him I was willing to pay the $152 I tried to pay in July. I asked him to adjust my bill because I had been living in a new apartment since August 1st. (Why should I pay for service I don't have?) He agreed to adjust the amount to not include August and transfer service.
8/22 I called to see if my payment had been posted. No. I explained the situation, again. I spoke to a phone rep who agreed to adjust the amount, again. I paid $152. She said she would request the tech team expedite the order ASAP.
8/28 I called to see if the payment had been posted. The payment had posted, but the service was set to be moved in 2 to 4 weeks (another month with no home phone!) I explained the situation, again. He refused to expedite the order. I asked to speak with a rep I spoke to the day before. He said she didn't work in his department but he agreed to find her and call me back with her number. He didn't call.
8/28 I called to ask if they could make the service move faster. She told me the order for transfer had never been placed because of the $139 remaining balance. Evidently, the balance had not been adjusted at all. I explained the situation, again. She adjusted the bill and I paid the new balance of $82. The service is set to be moved in about 2 weeks, hopefully.
