Verizon DSL Rips Off Unsuspecting Consumers by Advertising/Selling What it Doesn't Have: The Old Bait-and-Switch Hempstead New York .....

I purchased Verizon DSL when I was suckered in to buying all my long distance-local-and-regional calls for only $59.95. I was offered the price of $29.95 per month with the option of up to five screen names. However, when I received the modem and software, NONE of the promised features worked. There is supposed to be an onscreen module that allows one to check their e-mail and to do searches; it doesn't work. When I called customer service, some woman said that I was only the second or third person she had ever spoken to who had wanted to use the module. Most start the Verizon DSL, and then go onto Internet Explorer she told me.

Then, why is the fricken thing there? Also, being very, very, very unhappy with the assigned main screen name, I wanted to go and immediately establish what they call "aliases"; however, they are updating the software and that site does not work at the present time. I was told that a new version of the software (5.0 versus 4.1) would be available today (April 7) and that I should call so that I could get it. I was told that it would have a working on-screen module and the ability to establish aliases. I am reluctant to close down my current ISP--CompuServe--until I have a few other screen names. There are just some people and services I do not want to know anything that resembles my name. THAT IS MY RIGHT! Anyway, I called today for the new software and was told that it would not be available until April 28--THREE WHOLE WEEKS AWAY. That means I'm going to have to probably not only continue with my CompuServe through April, but through May also.

I called to complain to Verizon about this, but the best they could offer me was two free weeks of service. I WANT TWO FREE MONTHS!
