I bidded on a portable CD Player. My bid was $29 or so I thought. When I received my bid confermation I was shocked to see that my bid was $59 not $29, a big difference. I emailed them several times asking them to correct this error. Hours later I finally received a response:
"Unfortunately, all bids are non-cancelable.
It is possible that you will be outbid, and
no longer have a winning bid or order.
Your "My Page" will reflect the progress of your bid. If you see
that you have a winning bid, please contact uBid Customer Care
at 1-888-900-8243 when the status of your order shows "in processing".
We can not guarantee the cancellation because the order is
in process but we will make every effort to cancel it. In the
event that your order ships and we cannot cancel it in time,
please call us upon receipt and we will issue a return
authorization number. Under these circumstances, your shipping
charges will not be credited and a 15% restocking fee will be
charged. Please do not open the shipping box."
I called this so called customer care number, and what do you know they were closed. I then emailed back, still no response, just an email saying that I have emailed them to many times and they won't send a response.
I am so mad! I guess I will just have to call my credit card and stop payment, and cancel my membership with UBID!!!
4/4/00 - After constent phone calls to uBid's customer service I finally got somewhere. They agreed to let me return the item at there expense and not to charge me the 15% restocking fee. Here's the email I got shortly after the last phone call:
Thank you for contacting uBid, where you set the price. I apologize for
the inconvenience with your order. Please call Ubid direct, so that we
can review your order and the account. If the bid is not correct, we can

I recieved credit from Ubid.. I can't believe it, they were true to thier word. Of course it took a lot of hounding and help from The BBB.
