Time Warner Cable has an Internet Service out here in Central New York called Road Runner. For $40 a month, they will send you high speed Internet Access through the same coax cable that you use for your cable television. Sounds great until your neibors hear about it!

Problem 1 - The bandwidth you receive for your surfing pleasures is shared by your entire neiborhood. That would not be a bad thing if they continued to beef up their bandwidth but they don't so the connection becomes slower everytime more people in the area sign up for their service.

Problem 2 - Their technical support is everything but supportive. When you call for help, you have to talk to a technician in another state that has no idea what the status of their service is in your area. Out of State support is useless.

The best for last - They don't support a service that they charge $60 for!!!

They offer a service called Road Runner Home Network. They charge an additional $10 for every computer that is networked to the main computer that you are already paying $40 a month for. Not only do they rufuse to give you a static IP, but they have an awful time getting this service to work on their end.

I payed the extra money and it the service didn't work. The first time I called their support, they told me that their service "didn't take" and that they would resend the multiple IP's. The next day, it still didn't work and they blamed my hub. I did what they said and bought a new hub. SAME PROBLEM!!!

After a week of screwing around they finally did what they had to do to get THEIR service working. They don't know how their service works because "they don't support it"?

How do you charge for a service that you can't support?

After all this trouble, I think I am going back to dial up access and will just wait for DSL prices to come down!
