Yesterday I went to a local dollar store to pick up a few things I needed.  I go to this dollar store several times a week and usually use a debit card but since I had some unexplained charges on the card, I ordered a new one and it had not come yet.  

I got to the checkout and explained that I would be writing a check because a new debit card had not come.  I know the clerk is the manager of this store.  She rang it up and informed me that Imy check had been declined.  I was totally caught off guard because I haven't had any banking problems whatsoever.  After telling the manager that I knew I had enough money in the bank to cover this I went out to my car and called my bank and spoke to a representative.  I was told that I had more than enough money to cover the check, so I go back into the store and tell her let's try this again.  Again it was declined.

To make a long story short, she told me to call the number on this slip which turned out to be Telecheck.  I went through much automated bs but finally got a human whose foreign accent was so strong I could hardly understand her but finally ascertained that her reason was that they didn't have enough "history" in their database to approve the check.  She wanted to know what bank I used and I told her and she replied that they don't have a "relationship" with that bank (one of the largest in Oklahoma).  I said so you don't have any negative information on me but I can't write a freakin check for $40?

Now, this is the kicker, the very next day, today, I find that there is a charge on my account for a different amount at that same dollar store for yesterday.  I didn't spend any other amount.

Telecheck is a sham and something needs to be done about it.  I have vowed that I will refuse to do business with anyone that uses them.  No doubt this will cause me a hardship but that's how upset I am about this.  It embarassed me, humiliated me and all for no reason whatsoever.

Please, somebody out there, let's do something to shut these people down.  I read on another site where there were 285 complaints regarding this company.  It said they had already had to pay an enormous fine for basically doing the same thing and that nothing had changed.  Let's band together and refuse to do business with anyone who uses them!
