Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I am no longer shopping at ANY Target store. I am so glad to see this many people voicing their displeasure with Target.

I also tried to make a return 9 days past their magical 90 day policy. I had bought an AbSlide, a piece of exercise equipment. Before I had ever used it, I had an accident that banged up my knee pretty badly. The AbSlide got pushed aside and forgotten about. I later decided that with my knee, I couldn't get down on the floor and use this equipment. I had the receipt, but when I tried to return the merchandise, I was told it was past the 90 days and maybe I could call the manufacturer. I asked what good that would do, the product wasn't damaged. The cashier got the manager after I asked to speak to someone else. I said I was willing to take an in-store credit. They offered me the clearance price and said that was the best they could do. I decided to keep my purchase and write to their company headquarters. I related my story to them, but the response letter stated that they wanted to be equally fair to all their customers and spouted the same policy. It ended saying they hoped I would shop at Target again. The most unusual thing about this "business letter" was that the person who signed it used her first name and only her last initial. Things must be getting pretty bad up there.

Target referring to their customers as "guest" is an insult. This is not how you treat a guest.

I have two daughters getting married soon. I strongly urged both of them NOT to register at Target because of their return policy and problems I had heard about duplicate gift purchases. One daughter didn't take my advice and has registered there. We'll see how that goes. I know for a fact that one family member had to call the store two or three times to tell them she had already purchased an item a week earlier and it had not been removed from the registery.

Here in Cincinnati, the athletic shoe store, Just For Feet, is no longer in business. I don't know about the rest of the county. They also had a very unfriendly customer service policy. I found a website someone had created just to voice complaints about that store.

There are too many other place to shop like K-Mart, WalMart, and Meijer to bother with Target.

90 days "Magical?"

Most other stores offer 30 days. 90 days is three months....let's see....that's a whole summer, or a whole autumn. So you forgot to return your AbSlide. Gee....how much money would you be out? $10? You tried, they didn't bite, now get over it. Why don't you re-gift it and give it as a wedding gift. I'm sure your daughters could use it!

Vicki is special. The rules don't apply to Vicki. The rules only apply to everyone BUT Vicki. 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, 99 days, 1 year what time frame would be enough for Vicki? Even though it was past the 90 days, they offered you the sale price refund, on a gift card and it still wasn't good enough for Vicki. Almost all stores give refunds at the sale price. I think Target is being more than fair.

I work at a Target in New Jersey. I also work at the Guest Service desk. I echo the remarks by Rick (amen to you sir, you must be an exec) and Lissett. However, one item I read that wasn't talked about was the letter for Corp. The fact that the signator only signed their first name and last initial has NOTHING to do with the company and "what state its in." It has to do with privacy. We're not even allowed to give out our own store managers last name to guests who request it let alone someone from Corp giving a disgruntled guest their last name. Hope this helps and we do hope you shop your local Target again! :0)

Why should you be the exception?

Since you read the receipt we know that you are capable of understanding what 90 days means. So please inform everyone why you should be the exception to that rule. Why should Target be responsible because you forgot that you had this piece of equipment. You need to start taking responsibility for your own actions. Would you blame your insurance company if you forgot to pay your bill and they cancelled your insurance. No of course not, so why should this be any different. And furthermore, you are getting upset because you could not get the full amount back, but once again this is a result of you forgetting to return it. You should be praising Target for even trying to help you out, that shows some customer appreciation. Next time you purchase something and you dont want it, DO NOT PROCRASTINATE.

90 days and Club wed Problems

As a Target Department Manager I would like to quickly state that the 90 day return policy with a recipt is stated on the back of each recipt. The final return date is also printed on the top of the recipt. At Target, we have developed computer technology that speeds up all store operations. An experienced service desk team member can do a standard return in less than 30 seconds, without the need for signatures or added papar work like at Walmart and Kmart. After 94 days the computer automatically purges out the old records. And studies have shown that people who are honestly returning a product do so well before the 90 day period, because they do not want it to sit around their home collecting dust. As for Club Wedd. You must turn the print out over to the cashier with the item you want to be removed from that particular list circled. If you, the guest, do not do this then we have no way to remove the item. I.E. we dont know which item and from which list. Unfortunately, most people do not do this. IF People would take the time to read the first sheet that is printed out with the list, the one with all of the instructions on it, this problem would not exist. Untill science comes up with a pill for human ignorance this type of problem will continue.
