Tanashian Jewelers, Lake Mary, Fl, Jeweler Switches Diamond Earrings During Repair
I went to Tanashian Jewelers, owned by Jack and Jenny Tanashian, in Lake Mary, Florida yesterday. I brought with me $1600.00 diamond earrings. I asked the owner Jack Tanashian to cut the stems of the earrings because they were too long. He looked at my earrings while they were in my ear then went into the back room for a few minutes. He came back out and asked me for my earrings. I took them off, and proceeded to follow him into the back room to watch him do the repair. His wife Jenny Tanashian stopped me at the door to the back room and told me I could not go back there because of insurance reasons. Jack Tanashian already went back there with my earrings out of my sight. I told Jenny tanashian that I would feel more comfortable if I could go back and watch. She said "Don't worry about it, we are very reputable, we have been in business fifteen years, and we would never switch diamonds."
I could not see the work he was doing, or my earrings. He came out a few minutes later and I put my earrings in. When I walked outside, my husban noticed a black carbon mark on one of the diamonds that was not there before. We walked back into the jeweler, and asked him to clean the earring. Jenny Tanashian and her husband both started screaming at us, and told us to get out of the store and not come back. There were two customers in the store at the time, and they kept asking them to be witnesses.
The Tanashians were screaming that they were going to call their lawyers. I asked them for a receipt for the stems they had just cut on the earrings, and they refused to give me one. They wanted me to have no proof that I was ever in the store. They had taken my new earrings, and replaced them with identical ones that were flawed, and of poor quality.
At this point I called the police. Now, I will take them to court, and file complaints with all the local government agencies. Never do business with tanashian jewelers!!
