When traveling to Florida we stopped to eat at a Taco Bell for the first time. This was in Atlanta, GA. I went out back to clean out our car a little by the dumpster. An employee was throwing away a can that said "canned meat," I could not believe what I was reading! I asked the employee if this is what they use in the Tacos, he said yes, and that's why he does not eat them.

He also said, he has worked at so many other fast food places and that Taco bell is definitely the worst.

I went back into the restaurant where my wife said the kids are enjoying the food, but she could not. WE went to another restaurant and threw away the food from Taco Bell.

I know millions of people eat this food, they should only know

what they are eating!

While reading the first message, I was a bit skeptical as to the validity of it. Regardless, fast food is NOT gourmet. Before McDonald's came out with their $1 menu (a brilliant idea since Wendy's had had success with their $.99 menu for 10+ years), I would go to Taco Bell between my classed if I literally had to scrape change together for lunch. Anyway, I like Taco Bell, however, I've always referred to it as Mexican Wanna-be. I once knew a girl in HS who said that she didn't like Mexican food and the only Mexican she ever ate was at Taco Bell. I told her that it wasn't even real Mexican. Anyway, the evil side of me would like to think that the guy went to another restaurant and ate part of a meal that found its way to the floor before the plate.

I had been a loyal Taco Bell employee for four years until transferring within the parent corporation to the local Pizza Hut. While it is true that "real" meat is customarily used, occasionally canned meat is used when the price of supplies go up. This allows us to continue selling tacos profitably while not having to pay such a high price for the usual meat. Canned or potted meat is actually a lot cheaper, and we simply add extra seasonings and texturizers to make it look, smell, and taste as close to real meat as possible. Potted meat, canned, or real ... what is the difference? If it tastes good regardless, why complain? Believe me, if only you saw some of the things that get substituted at Pizza Hut, this potted meat complaint would be the least of your worries.

I'm an ex-manager and the meat comes in bags because it has to be boiled before it can be served. There is no way the meat could have been in a can... Any substitutions have to be approved via an 800 # before they can be used. Taco Bell would of borrowed meat from another store before it would use canned meat...

It's fast food. What do you expect? It's all thaw heat and serve. Fast food is cheap. You get what you pay for. I'm sure that you have eaten worse things that canned meat.

Canned meat at taco bell-i used to work at taco bell and they use meat in BAGS not CANS.that canned meat thing was more than likely a joke so dont take every thing so seriously and for the love of god if your going to post something on here make it worthwhile.my god the immaturity of some people to believe that.

OMG, canned meat! Spam comes in cans -- Spam is evil! Eggs & spam, spam & eggs, spam & spam...canned hams come in cans. They call them "canned hams". Ask Norman Greenbaum. They have chili in cans. You have to add things to it or it tastes kind of like dog food. When I was in the Army, EVERYTHING came in cans. Even the green eggs! I will not eat green eggs and ham...Sam I am...I am the walrus...I'm sorry, its just the post-traumatic shock kicking in. Time for my Prozac. But the original poster is right about Taco Bell food. It tastes lousy, except when they toss in couple of cockroaches to zip it up a little.

I was a mananger for a Taco Bell/ KFC and the meat that is used for the taco's has never come in cans, it is in sealed bags. This is due to the fact that the meat must be heated before being used in the taco's.....and you cannot substitute products with other products if you run out of supply without approval from an 800 #
