Shurgard Storage Centers, Seattle, Washington
We had a small rental unit with Shurgard for 20 months. We kept them aware of our current address/current phone number/current credit card number for the monthly charges. They caught us with our back turned during tax season, stopped sending the monthly charges to our bank account, failed to notify us legally, seized our property, and sold about $10,000 worth of property at auction for a $400 bill. We have been told by attorneys it will cost three times the value of the property to sue, no law enforcement or governmental unit will help, and we cannot sue in Washington State Small Claims Courts for more then $2,500. These people have found a loop hole in the laws to legally take their customer's possessions, and the small person cannot do anything about it. If anyone out there wants to file a class action suit against these people let us know.
