Please read important notice about Suntasia AKA Captital Vacations. Suntasia AKA Capital Vacations are a rip off travel company scam obviously well known to ripoffreport.com based on the number of reports on this site I have read today.

A couple of weeks ago, during August 2004, my wife received a phone call from a company claiming to be Capital vacations. The woman on the phone asked for me, my wife said I was out, so the woman proceeded to tell my wife we had qualified for a free no obligation holiday. To qualify, my wife was asked to sign up for for a 14 day risk free offer to join a travel agent program.

Like a fool (I am not happy about it) my wife was asked to give over our bank account details which she did. I would point out that this phone call was not recorded. The travel agent program arrived in the post yesterday, September 10 addressed to me stating that my free trial period had started and would end on 09-16-04 after which my checking account would be debited $59.95 consisting of a one time activation fee of$40 and 19.95 for membership for te first month and therafter. There was no mention of any free holiday in all the rubbish literature that came with this offer.

I immediately called the 1-888-824-7675 customer service line on Friday evening which is automated with only two options: cancel your membership = press 1 or review travel plans = press 2. I pressed 1 to cancel the membership. I would point out that there is no option to speak to anyone in person. This morning, Saturday, September 11, 2004 I went online to check my Washington Mutual checking account and discovered that $149 had been debited from my account and the money had been taken by Suntasia AKA Capital Vacations.

I have since found out from this site that Suntasia AKA Capital Vacations are a complete scam and there is severe risk that they will withdraw further sums from my bank account without authorisation. This company is run by a con artist named Austin Shaw. I really think the authorities MUST DO SOMETHING to stop him. How many people need to be ripped off before he is caught. He may also be linked to another bogus long distance phone service called VersaTalk also based in Florida. Please someone do something about this. I would certainly be willing to help catch AUSTIN SHAW.Contact me

Hello, I have been reading your comments on Austin Shaw and his related companies, such as Vacations in Paradise. I am a news reporter and have been covering his case. I thought it might be of interest to you that Mr. Austion Shaw was sentenced to 12 months in jail on Jan.26 2009 in a Barrie superior court. The Crown was only able to pin him down on one count of defrauding the public. It was a very complicated case and took years. The fraud is in connection to his buisnesses: Vacations In Paradise as a division of Nitsua Marketing which is wholly owned by Shaw. Other neames are Sunrise Vacations Club. Court heard that Shaw offered memberships at a price of $3000 to $10,000 with great promises for vacations and cruises beginning in April 2004 in Collingwood. Court heard that deticetives discovered Mr. Shaw was "heavily involved in gambling, particularly at Casino Rama." He lost $100's and thounsand of dollars of (likely your) money there. Many of the complainants in this crime have obtained judgements against Mr. Shaw in Civil court - however, the chances that they will be reimbursed are very slim. I hope the fact that he is in jail - at least for a short time - helps. News story will be in tomorow's paper (Feb. 25, 2009). Tracy

This is a story that was in the Toronto Star in September 2004: Riverview Lodage / Alpine Lodge / Nitsua Marketing / Sunrise Vacations / Vacations in Paradise Sep. 10, 2004. 01:00 AM Hundreds fear holidays lost in firm's collapse ROBERTA AVERY SPECIAL TO THE STAR COLLINGWOOD, Ont.-News that the owner of a now-defunct local travel company is wanted by police on a fraud charge has left hundreds of people fearing they could be waving goodbye to their dream vacations. "It looks like we got scammed over really bad. We're out $9,000 and have nothing to show for it," said Jessika Angeline. More than 150 couples who have contacted the Collingwood Chamber of Commerce to complain about their dealings with Vacations in Paradise have similar stories, as do the more than 60 people who have been interviewed by the Collingwood Ontario Provincial Police. Police issued a warrant for the arrest of Austin Shaw after receiving numerous reports from people who claim they handed over an average of $5,000 to $15,000 to his Vacations in Paradise company, but say they have not received the promised cruises, bargain flights and discounted stays at luxury resorts. "We're getting more and more complaints in every day. We had another four come in overnight," said OPP Constable Steve Hardisty. The Vacations in Paradise office on First Street in Collingwood closed down about two weeks ago. The phones are disconnected and police have been unable to locate Shaw, 51, who is wanted on one count of fraud over $5,000. "Right now, it's one count while we determine if all the other complaints warrant criminal charges," said Hardisty. Shaw is described as six-foot-two with brown hair and brown eyes and may be driving a white Cadillac Seville with an Ontario licence plate ANAB 704. The Collingwood Chamber of Commerce cancelled Shaw's membership last year when complaints about Vacations in Paradise started flooding in and they could not be resolved, said general manager Carol Barrett. Initial complaints were about alleged high-pressure sales tactics; later there were complaints that promised vacations were not forthcoming, she added. The Angelines filed a claim against Shaw and Vacations in Paradise in Barrie's Small Claims Court. Their case is scheduled for Sept. 28.

For those of you looking for information on austin shaw, you may want to start in collingwood ontario canada. Austin ran a timeshare and telemarketing company there for 4 years under the names nitsua marketing/ vacations in paradise / capital marketing/scott financial/ andre automotive. Mr shaw is originally from alberta and still has 2 daughters there. he ripped off hundreds of members of vacations in paradise when he disapeared lately. he also ran their credit card numbers without authorisation and withdrew thousands of dollars from thier accounts. mr shaw left collingwood owing thousands of dollars to local businesses, employees and business associates. mr. shaw was involved in a relationship with a woman by the name of lisa martin and they purchased several properties together in collingwood. mr.shaw has been the subject of numerous t.v. reports and newspaper articles in ontario and their is a warrant out for his arrest. By the way ,one of mr.shaws daughter's names is asia and mr. shaw used this name as a password on all his computer and banking accounts. mr.shaw has a serious gambling problem and in all likelyhood is still involved in scams. the cheap vacation certificate scam is something mr.shaw has beem involved in in the past

Suntasia and Capital Vacations are fictious business names owned by a company called FTN Promotions, Inc,

#10Consumer Suggestion

Suntasia and Capital Vacations are fictious business names owned by a company called FTN Promotions, Inc, 8751 ULMERTON BLVD, LARGO FL 33771. The principals of this company are: BRYON WOLF 6116 KIPPS COLONY DR W GULFPORT FL 33707 PCEO ROY ELIASSON 3006 LONGBROOKE WAY CLEARWATER FL 33760 Registered Agent: DONALD L BOOTH 8751 ULMERTON BLVD LEGAL DEPT LARGO FL 33771 If you do a search on either of these names at sunbiz.org you'll find they have all kinds of companies (presumably scams or future scams) under their names. Their phone number, according to corporate documents, is: 727-471-0288 They used to have a principal named David Reilly, however he was removed in March 2004. I would file complaints against FTN Promotions with the Florida Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, the FTC, Fraud.org and definitely dispute the charge asap with your bank. It may also be prudent to change your bank account number to avoid future charges. I have found no information on an Austin Shaw as mentioned by the original poster. I have, however confirmed the information by David in Corpus Christi to be highly accurate (I am a legal researcher). If you feel like sending Bryon a Christmas card, his home address is: 10733 CHAPMAN CT SEMINOLE, FL 33777 . If you feel the need to call him at home his home number is: (727)320-9538. His pal Roy's address is current on the corporate documents and his home phone is : : (727)538-2475.

I recieved a call from "capital one vacations" today and was a little bit suspicious. a couple of months ago my wife recieved a call (similar to the first post) in which she ended up giving up our checking account number. I believe money was illegally withdrawn from my checking account. I have written an e-mail to the fdic and the fbi concerning this company. If anyone can tell me who I need to contact regarding this issue it would be helpful. Thank you very much,

We definitly need to put this company out of business..Not only for the consumers but for the employees as well

Hey Kevin.... Where did you get AUSTIN SHAW from? The owners/executives are Roy Eliasson, Bryon Wolfe, Vance Vogel, Leonard Soli (There are some more people but I cannot remember) (Roy and Bryon are the owners...The new office is located @ 8751 Ulmerton Road..Largo..FL..33771..727/471/0276. I do know that Bryon lives somewhere on 22nd Avenue South in Pasadena Yacht Club. (in FL) but do not know the location of the other con artists. We definitly need to put this company out of business..Not only for the consumers but for the employees as well for they are treated unethically. Sexual harrassment, on the job drinking (execs) and drugs. I know that some employees that are working 8 hours without a lunch. I know that the company only puts through a certain amt of refunds so they can build their interest up. They also send out mail diliberatly late so consumers cannot cancel in time before they are charged. At one point there were employees setting up accounts with each other using consumers acct info to get commission. These consumers were billed and would call in to be told that it was a mng/trainee call and they accidently processed the sale. They sell to the mentally challanged, minors and elderly people. THEY NEED TO BE STOPPED. I am glad that I have quit and moved away from this sinful company. They are all going to hell. I hope that this info is helpful..
