Sterling Chevrolet Kept a $1000.00 deposit check after we cancelled vehicle order. Sterling Virginia
My wife and I were in Sterling, Va back in May visiting some family on vacation. WHile we were there we decided to order a new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro from this dealership since they were very hard to find and they had some for order. We put our order in and put $1000.00 down for a deposit on the car. About a week later we returned home to North Carolina to find out that my wife, who is in the U.S. Army, was scheduled for an emergency deployment to leave in the next 5 days to replace some fellow soldiers for 9 months. We then decided that we didn't need the car until she returned home so we decided to give our order to a friend. Brandon at the dealership tells us that since we brought them another customer, we would get our deposit back the following week. It never shows. A month goes by and still nothing. I call the dealership at least 20 times and leave messages that were never returned. Come to find out they wanted to charge my friend Stephen $3000.00 over what was agreed on and he wouldn't take the deal. We never signed anything that said the deposit was non-refundable, just an order form that broke down the charges and options we wanted on the car. When I finally talked to Mario, the GM, he was extremely rude and told me they were not giving it back and basically hung up on me. I filed complaints with General Motors, and everyone I could find. The BBB, the Virginia Motor Vehicles Department and so on. All we want is the money back, that is all. We never took delivery of the car, therefore shouldn't be held liable for anything. We never signed a contract. Someone please help us.
