I had recently had a garbage disposal estimate at my household and wanted to get the work done, along with a new faucet. The 2 guys come in with the necessary stuff and have the job done in less than an hour. I was handed an invoice with a charge of over $1400.

They failed to mention the cost of the garbage disposal and faucet in the invoice and charged over $700 in labor for simple work for two gentleman. To pay 2 men $300 an hour for a simple task is just absolute bull. Such a shady company and awful business practices. I hope they are ashamed at the type of business they are running.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS LIKE THE PLAGUE.

SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME AND MONEY!

Why would you call Roto-Rooter for a routine plumbing call?

Roto-Rooter is known to be the highest priced service around. The fact that they sent out two 'plumbers' to install a garbage disposal and change out a faucet shows you how incompetent this company is - except at lining their own pockets.

It may be too late for you now for this specific event, but for the future, line up trusted contractors that you can call. This would be plumbers, roofers, electricians etc.  Check reviews. Check friends and family. Get quotes when you have a repair event. Don't fall for the smooth talking rip-off artists like Roto-Rooter. Yes, I agree you were ripped off unless you were quoted those prices up front in writing before the work was done. Never have work done without a written quote. Too much room for abuse of the consumer when the consumer is buying blind.

You should have requested an estimate that included the faucet replacement. Without a complete estimate there is no way of knowing if you were ripped off.
