Relocation Van Lines, Inc. sent me a quote stating that they don't use subcontractors, they'll give us 5 free boxes, 1 month free storage in Hollywood FL, and other little perks. Don't beleive any of it, and do not use this company. You will regret it.
They were scheduled to arrive at my home to pick up my belongings 2 weeks in advance, they came on the last day that I was scheduled to be in my apartment, giving us no time to clean our place properly. On top of this, they subcontracted our order to another company called AY Transport in Cupertino, CA. The people who came to our place to pack our goods, couldn't even speak English, so it was hard to communicate with them and tell them what we wanted on the truck and what we didn't.
When they pack your goods, they try to have you sign blank paperwork, then they add a lot of charges and items to it, then leave you a copy and leave really quickly.
When they deliver your goods, they try to distract you while they put away items in the back of rooms that has been damaged and broken, then have you sign the paper work and leave quickly.
The quote included 5 free boxes, they charge us for every single box at some outstanding rate of aproximately $22.00 each.
They said they would give us 1 month free storage and would store our belongings in Hollywood, FL, but they had AY Transport store our things in San Jose, CA, and charged us $120.00 for less than 2 weeks. When I tried to speak to the Relocation Specialist about it, she told me in a very disrespectful manner the it was more convienient for Relocation Vanlines to store the items in San Jose. They didn't do what I requested them to do for my convienience, but for their convienience.
When I paid my deposit by credit card, they over charged my credit card by $7.00. After seeing my credit card statement, I called to make them aware; they said it was a "measly $7.00, that is no big deal."
They claimed my goods had almost 800 extra pounds and charged me a higher rate per pound that the quoted price. Then they had the nerve to tell me after the fact, that by law they are entitled to charge me up to 130% more than the quoted price.
When I called customer service to inquire about belongings, they tell me they would call me back by a certain time and they never call back. You have to be the one hounding them.
They lie, they have lots of hidden charges, and when you read there terms and conditions they do not uphold there word. You may have to go through a lot of strees, lose a lot of money upfront, and take them to court to get justice. To save yourself the headache, don't use Relocation Van Line, Inc. To be honest, I beleive if I have done the move myself, it would have cost less money and stress.
